WHO Guidance on Ethics and Governance of AI for Health

After a year and a half of deliberation among experts in various fields, including ethics, digital technology, law, and human rights as well as experts from Ministries of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO) has released a new guidance entitled “Ethics & Governance of Artificial Intelligence for Health.” The guidance document includes:

     
  • Applications of artificial intelligence for health.
  • Laws, policies, and principles that apply to use of artificial intelligence for health.
  • Key ethical principles for use of artificial intelligence for health.
  • Ethical challenges to use of artificial intelligence for health care.
  • Building an ethical approach to use of artificial intelligence for health.
  • Liability regimes for artificial intelligence for health.
  • Elements of a framework for governance of artificial intelligence for health.
