SUMMARY:May Tour for NIST's 125th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:The May Tour for NIST’s 125th Anniversary offers an introduction to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)\, followed by an evening visit to one of its research laboratories. During registration\, attendees select the laboratory they wish to visit\, with participation assigned on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nLaboratory visit options include: \n\nNational Fire Research Laboratory – A large-scale fire research facility where NIST conducts experiments that support fire safety standards\, building codes\, fire investigations\, and the validation of computational fire models. Current research areas include large fire measurement\, wildland–urban interface fires\, and material flammability.\nRobotics Test Facility – A research environment focused on developing test methods to evaluate emergency response robots\, such as ground robots\, aerial drones\, and aquatic vehicles. This work supports first responders in assessing whether robotic technologies are suitable for applications like search and rescue\, bomb disposal\, and firefighting.\n\nVisit the event page for more information.
