Matt Jans, PhD

National Center for Health Statistics

Dr. Jans has been implementing and innovating web, mail, phone, and in-person survey methods for over 25 years. His research includes questionnaire usability and pretesting, interviewer-respondent interaction, address-based sampling, and sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) measurement. He has worked in academic (UMass Boston; UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, California Health Interview Survey), private (ICF) and government (US Census Bureau; National Center for Health Statistics) sectors. He is currently Lead Statistician for the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. He is a long-time member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research and the American Statistical Association.
