Mihaela Popescu, PhD

Mihaela Popescu is a Professor of Digital Media in the Department of Communication Studies at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) and the Faculty Director of CSUSB’s Extended Reality for Learning Lab (xREAL). She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests include media and communication policies, digital technologies and their impact on society, privacy and surveillance, and immersive media technologies. She is currently working on a co-authored book (with Lemi Baruh), preliminarily entitled “Privacy as a Right to Becoming: The Work of Self in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
