On March 28, 2020, the Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights in Action (OCR) issued the bulletin Civil Rights, HIPAA, and the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) to ensure obligations are met under laws and regulations that prohibit discrimination in HHS-funded programs during the COVID-19 emergency.
Compliance with HIPAA is critical during this pandemic as well as understanding what health information may be shared and what is protected. CITI Program offers specific content covering the basics of HIPAA and health privacy.
