The Path to Heritable Genome Editing

The U.S. National Academy of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences, and the UK’s Royal Society have formed the The International Commission on the Clinical Use of Human Germline Genome Editing to provide guidance for heritable genome editing also known as Germline editing. The committee issued a report with 11 recommendations that address specific ethical and safety issues. These important considerations also create significant challenges for U.S. health and technology policy.
