Seth J. Schwartz, Ph.D.

Dr. Schwartz has a master’s degree in family and child sciences from Florida State University and a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Florida International University. He completed a 1-year post-doctoral fellowship in family research at the University of Miami and has held a faculty position at that same university since 2001. He has taught courses in biostatistics, research ethics, and research methods.

Dr. Schwartz’s research has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2005. He has over 250 scholarly publications and two edited books. His research focuses on immigration, cultural adjustment, family relationships, and adolescent and emerging adult adjustment.

Dr. Schwartz has been a member of the CITI Program team since 2011 and has collaborated on developing courses related to research methods and biostatistics. He is also President of the Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood and is director of the University of Miami Ph.D. program in prevention science and community health.

Dr. Schwartz has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 17 years and is the father of two adolescent daughters. He is an avid distance runner and passionate sports fan.
