The Industrial Hygiene manager at Georgia Southern oversees the development, implementation, and administration of the university’s Laboratory Safety, Biosafety, and other lab-related safety and health programs. The Manager ensures compliance with federal laws, sponsor requirements, and university policies regarding safe laboratory best practices including chemical, biological, and radiological concerns.
This position will serve as the required Chemical Hygiene Officer and is responsible for establishing policy and procedure, overseeing inspection, accident/exposure investigations, federal reporting, and laboratory training. The CHO advises the Vice President for Research, the Provost, and the President on matters concerning research laboratory safety and health. This position supervises the Industrial Hygiene Lab Specialist.
