Dr. Vallero’s research at Duke University addresses environmental engineering and engineering ethics, and at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency focuses on exposure to chemical ingredients based on their inherent physicochemical properties and where they are found throughout the environment. This includes product usage and other human factors. His research addresses all exposure routes and pathways, including dermal, inhalation, and ingestion of toxic pollutants. At Duke, he teaches courses and authors peer-review articles and book chapters on optimization, air pollution engineering, and professional ethics. He has authored 22 books. Fundamentals of Water Pollution was published in 2024 and the sixth edition of Fundamentals of Air Pollution will be released in the Spring of 2025.
