Melissa James, MPS, RBP (ABSA)

Melissa is the BSL-3 Facility Manager for Yale University. Her previous experience at Penn State’s high containment laboratory have prepared her to lead Yale’s BSL-3 program, producing world-renowned contributions to public health and teaching scientists the best practices for BSL-3 research. In 2019 she obtained her Master’s Degree in Homeland Security from Penn State focusing on Public Health Preparedness for Disasters and Bioterrorism and was elected to the Order of the Sword and Shield Academic and Professional Honor Society. In 2020 she earned the Registered Biosafety Professional credential through ABSA International and continue to engage with the association and scientific community.
