Nadine J. Barrett, PhD is Professor of Public Health Sciences and Senior Associate Dean for Community Engagement and Equity in Research at Atrium Health/Wake Forest School of Medicine. Dr. Barrett is a health disparities researcher, expert equity strategist, and a nationally recognized leader in facilitating community and academic partnerships to advance health equity toward more trustworthy healthcare systems and research. She develops innovative multi-level interventions and programs to address structural and systemic inequities that limit access to quality healthcare and research. Barrett is the creator of Just ASKTM a nationally-recognized program designed to increase diverse representation in clinical research and trials. Prior to her current role, Dr. Barrett was the inaugural director of the Duke Cancer Institute’s  Office of Health Equity and the inaugural Director of The Center for Equity in Research in the Duke Clinical Translational Science Institute.
