FAQs for the NSF’s Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide

The Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) is a comprehensive document that outlines the policies and procedures for proposing and managing awards from the NSF. The current version of PAPPG (NSF 23-1) was released in March 2023 and affects proposals submitted on or after October 4, 2023.

The PAPPG provides information on various topics, including proposal preparation and submission, award management, and post-award requirements. It also provides guidelines for preparing budgets, managing conflicts of interest, and conducting responsible research. The document is designed to ensure that all proposals submitted to NSF are evaluated fairly and consistently and that awarded projects are managed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
