Due to high demand, access to CITI Program’s course, COVID-19: Back to Campus, has been extended until 1 March 2021. The complimentary online course was developed in cooperation with AAMC. It provides an overview of COVID-19, prevention strategies, recommended laboratory practices, and points to consider as students, staff, and faculty move forward to a return to activities and operations within medical school and research institution settings.

College and university leaders continue to struggle with policies and procedures to ensure safe openings of campuses and research facilities to students, faculty and staff. Some have opened, but then pivoted toward online-only courses after spikes in COVID-19 cases. The Chronicle of Higher Education has published 3,000 campus opening models, a reflection of the continued interest in the critical decisions that campus administrators must make.

Originally designed to be available until October 2020, high demand and a fluid situation for campuses drove CITI Program (in consultation with AAMC) to extend the course offering until 1 March 2021. As institutions adjust plans and begin to plot their path for opening in Spring 2021, this course will provide important considerations and frameworks.

The course will continue to be offered for free to subscribing and non-subscribing institutions.

Institutional decision-makers can view the detailed description, experience a demo, and complete a request for course access for their organization on the COVID-19: Back to Campus (2020-2021) course page.
