Join leading experts for a hybrid workshop focused on advancing hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and gene therapy for sickle cell disease, with a special emphasis on addressing pulmonary complications. This multidisciplinary event will foster collaboration and highlight cutting-edge research aimed at improving outcomes and shaping the future of patient care.

With pulmonary complications posing a major barrier to successful treatment—particularly in children undergoing HCT and adults experiencing respiratory conditions such as ARDS and pulmonary hypertension—the workshop will address urgent needs in both research and clinical practice. Participants will engage in meaningful dialogue to develop innovative strategies and improve long-term quality of life for patients across all age groups.

Objectives:

  1. Showcase the latest research breakthroughs funded under NOT-HL-20-761, focusing on pulmonary complications of HCT in childhood.
  2. Foster collaboration to expand the scientific scope to include adults, devices, advanced analytics, and experimental human studies under NOT-HL-23-116.
  3. Identify knowledge gaps to guide future research on pulmonary complications linked to HCT and gene therapy in sickle cell disease.
