Microbiology Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee Meeting Announcement

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will host a hybrid meeting of the Microbiology Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee on November 19, 2026. The committee will discuss the scientific, clinical, and public health considerations surrounding the use of pathogen-agnostic sequencing in emergency preparedness and response efforts. The session will also examine opportunities, implementation considerations, and potential priorities for future coordination related to these technologies.

The meeting will be open to the public and held in both in-person and virtual formats. Public comments will also be accepted through an FDA-established docket.
