General Summary/Objective:

We are actively seeking a hard-working, intelligent, and energetic individual to join our growing group of finance professionals. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include supporting the general functions of the Finance Department, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with month-end closing activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

As Staff Accountant, you will report to the Corporate Controller and Director of Revenue Management and will perform the following:

·         Prepare monthly account reconciliations and schedules for specified general ledger accounts to ensure accurate reporting.

·         Prepare and record various monthly journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

·         Perform monthly bank reconciliations for operating accounts and specified investment accounts.

·         Research and resolve coding and reconciliation issues.

·         Perform credit reviews for the Company’s research administration division.

·         Manage billing and collections activities for the Company’s consulting division.

·         Reconcile intercompany activities between divisions.

·         Assist with annual audit preparation to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.

·         Contribute to the development of new or current accounting systems, programs, and procedures.

·         Respond to inquiries from the CFO and Corporate Controller regarding financial results, reporting requests, and special projects.

Education required:

BA or BS in Business from an accredited university with a major in accounting.

Experience Required:

Entry level position, but applicant must have internship experience working in a Finance/Accounting Department or Accounting Firm. Recent College grads are welcome to apply. This position does not require a candidate to pursue public accounting certification.

Qualifications:

Applicant should be a detail-oriented and capable problem solver with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Should possess exceptional knowledge of accounting, finance, and U.S. GAAP, with the ability to take large amounts of data and organize it in a meaningful way. Must possess excellent organizational skills, be able to multi-task, and work as part of a team. Applicant must be able to learn proprietary software quickly, be familiar with Microsoft Word, and possess strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Location:

*Melville, NY

*This position requires the employee to work in the Melville office two days per month at a minimum, however additional days may be required as determined by management.

Physical Demands and Environment:

This is a largely sedentary role. Some filing is required involving the ability to lift files, open cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The position requires the individual to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and arms. This position operates in an office environment using standard office equipment

Travel:

No travel is expected for this position

Salary/Exempt Status:

$35.00 – $37.00 per hour/Non-Exempt
