New York State Psychiatric Institute, a facility of the New York State Office of Mental Health, is seeking a Research Scientist 4 to serve as Research Administrator.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and five years of professional research experience in an appropriate field.  A master’s degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience, and a Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.

A minimum of three years of experience in a human subject research or human research protections program setting is preferred.

 

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Collaborate with the Director’s Office to develop and implement oversight plans for research activities across the Institution, including strategies to enhance oversight effectiveness and efficiency; oversee and monitor all projects and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional policies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases of research projects, protocols, and related documentation, ensuring accessibility and confidentiality as appropriate; prepare and deliver reports, updates, and presentations on research activities to the leadership team, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and strategic priorities.
Coordinate the execution of institutional efforts to review and evaluate research protocols, procedures, and documentation to identify potential risks, ensure adherence to best practices, and promote quality research outcomes.
Help integrate the research oversight initiatives into the functions of the 12 Research Areas, the Research Cores, and the NYSPI Office of Sponsored Programs.
Track the progress of research oversight and other administrative activities at the institutional level through compilation and analysis of research oversight activity data and report preparation and presentation.
Serve as primary point of contact for the leadership team regarding research oversight-related matters, and for external agency inquiries regarding research oversight activities.
Oversee the administrative aspects of research oversight activities in the Director’s Office, including but not limited to coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, documenting minutes, and drafting correspondence on behalf of the Director’s Office.
Assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and other materials for meetings, conferences, and other events related to research oversight initiatives; assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory documents.
Engage with senior leadership to address concerns, solicit feedback, and align research activities with organizational goals and objectives.
