The Exposure-Related Care Transformation (EXPRT) Center at the VA New Jersey War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) in East Orange, NJ, is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Senior Administrative Manager for immediate hire. About the EXPRT Center
The EXPRT Center (https://www.warrelatedillness.va.gov/WARRELATEDILLNESS/EXPRT/index.asp ) is dedicated to transforming care and improving the health of Veterans with military environmental exposure concerns. Our mission is carried out through innovative research, education, clinical application, and evaluation initiatives. Located within the New Jersey War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC; www.warrelatedillness.va.gov ), a nationally recognized tertiary care program near New York City, we specialize in serving Veterans with complex, difficult-to-diagnose conditions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Administrative & Operational Leadership
· Oversee all administrative and operational functions of the EXPRT Center.
· Manage day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives.
· Develop, implement, and support policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations.
· Optimize workflows and resource allocation to support program goals.
2. Research Compliance & Oversight
· Ensure adherence to human subjects research guidelines and institutional policies.
· Maintain compliance with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) standards, oversight committees, the Institutional Review Board, and federal regulations.
· Oversee administration of studies, including submission of annual reports, reporting of adverse events, and amendments to research protocols for IRB and funding agency review.
3. Financial & Resource Management
· Oversee budgeting, procurement, and financial reporting for the Center.
· Monitor expenditures and ensure fiscal responsibility.
· Oversee contracting from development to implementation.
4. Team Leadership & Collaboration
· Supervise and mentor administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
· Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments and programs.
· Oversee hiring, on-boarding, and performance appraisals.
5. Data Analysis & Strategic Planning
· Prepare and present operational reports to leadership and stakeholders.
· Track key performance indicators and recommend improvements.
· Contribute to the development and execution of long-term goals for the Center.
· Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
Qualifications
Required
· U.S. Citizenship
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred)
· Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in clinical research or healthcare operations
· Strong management and budgeting skills
· Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and team leadership abilities
Preferred
· Advanced degree (MPH, MBA, or related)
· CCRC or equivalent certification
· Experience within VA or federal research environments
· Expertise in IRB processes, human subjects research compliance, and federal regulations
