UVA: Telehealth for Diabetes

This series includes four courses that explore how technology and telehealth can be used for managing diabetes,

About these Courses

The Telehealth and Continuous Glucose Monitoring course prepares learners for interpretation of continuous glucose monitoring data. The course is divided into four modules: the basics of AGP, AGP reports, interpretation of AGP, and case studies. All AGP-related materials were based on data collected using currently available continuous glucose monitoring systems.

The Telehealth for Diabetic Retinopathy Screening course introduces learners to why diabetic retinopathy screening (DRS) at the primary care level, accompanied by telehealth technology and a follow up dilated eye exam, is essential to the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of diabetic retinopathy. Continued efforts to coordinate care through DRS, telehealth, and a dilated eye exam, will impact the lives of patients and their families by saving patients with diabetes from vision loss.

The Telehealth & National Diabetes Prevention Program course provides information on how to adopt and integrate telehealth technologies into the delivery of the National Diabetes Prevention Program to improve patient outcomes and enhance provider knowledge and support.

The Telehealth for Diabetes Self-Management Education & Support course is designed to provide information on how to adopt and integrate telehealth technologies into accredited and recognized Diabetes Self-Management Education & Support (DSMES) programs to increase patient participation and engagement in diabetes education and improve outcomes.
