Adam studied Marine Biology and continued his research at the then recently commissioned Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture Research (Swansea University, 1999-2015). Projects focused on applied microalgal, decapod, fish production and welfare. After completing a fellowship investigating lobster aquaculture (Gothenburg University) and a year in industry (Test Valley Trout Ltd), he was Lead NACWO (officer for statutory fish welfare obligations in science) at the Institute of Aquaculture (IoA). Adam recently gained an MRes from Aberystwyth University, within a project supporting judicious veterinary antimicrobial prescribing. In 2024, he returned to IoA within a decapod welfare project, investigating electrical stunning in shrimp farms.
