April Petillo, PhD

Northern Arizona University and CES Partnership, LLC

April Petillo (Interim Co-Director of Women’s and Gender Studies & Associate Professor of Public Sociology) studies social legacies that intersect with gender, sexuality, race/ethnicity, political status, culture, and law/policy. She weaves sociology with global Indigenous, comparative/critical ethnic, gender/sexuality, critical trafficking, feminist, and disability justice studies to amplify often overlooked realities. Her primary projects decipher legally encoded embodiments and foster multifaceted coalition-building through local, community-led, public-facing research to build better, all-inclusive societies where we all can thrive. As a Founding Partner/Principal Evaluation Consultant, she applies these disciplinary insights to program evaluation. April also co-authored a CITI course on Focus Group Interviews.
