Heather Simmons, PhD, CSP

Heather Simmons has seven years of safety and health experience in higher education. Heather joined Iowa State University (ISU) in 2015 as a Lab Safety Specialist. She moved to the Health and Safety group as an Occupational Safety Specialist in 2016, where she managed the day-day operations of the ISU accident investigation program (six years) and the University’s ergonomic program (three years). She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon, her Masters in Finance from Iowa State University, and her PhD in Biology from Penn State. She obtained her Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification in 2020.
