About this Course

This video-based course covers the fundamentals of ergonomics as well as workplace ergonomic risk factors in office, laboratory, and animal handling settings. Examples of ergonomic solutions and best practices are included. This training is accurate as of September 2023. Best practices are always subject to change as more information and research on ergonomics is available.

Module 1: Introduction to Workplace Ergonomics

This module sets the foundation for this course by reviewing ergonomics and musculoskeletal disorders and their causes. The module provides an overview of ergonomic risk factors and concludes with a discussion of the costs associated with musculoskeletal disorders.

Module 2: Workplace Ergonomics Specifics

In this module, learners review the importance of posture and how to arrange their workplaces ergonomically.  Learners will also explore workplace environmental ergonomics. The module concludes with a review of how to lift properly.

Module 3: Office and Computer Ergonomics

This module presents the risk factors of working in an office environment and using computers. It provides learners with best practices and ergonomic solutions. The module also details how to set up a computer workstation ergonomically.

Module 5: Animal Handling Ergonomics

Individuals who work with and handle animals need to be aware of the ergonomic risks associated with this work. This module provides learners with an overview of the common ergonomic risks associated with handling animals and discusses mitigation strategies. The module also explores the importance and role of ergonomics in animal handling work environments.

Module 6: Course Summary
