Sally Thompson-Iritani, DVM, PhD, CPIA, CHABP, CCFP, CFE

Sally Thompson-Iritani, DVM/PhD, is Assistant Vice Provost for Animal Care, Outreach, and the 3Rs at the University of Washington. A laboratory animal veterinarian with extensive experience in academia and industry, she is certified in IACUC administration and compassion fatigue. Sally integrates 3Rs principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) into institutional practices, leads the Dare to Care (D2C) program, and supports research personnel. In 2024, she received the esteemed AALAS Charles River Award for her exceptional contributions to laboratory animal welfare. Nationally, she serves as President of the 3Rs Collaborative, Chair of the BAHSCR Roundtable, and board member of several animal welfare organizations.
