What OIG Found out About Foreign Significant Financial Interests

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) recently reviewed the oversight by NIH grantees of investigators’ foreign significant financial interests through online surveys administered to grantees. With 617 responses, the OIG determined that over 65% of grantees failed to comply with at least one foreign disclosure requirement and that 10% of grantees did not perform required reviews to determine whether foreign financial interests conflicted with unbiased research.
