This course provides a fast-paced review of the ISO 1400:2015 Environmental Management Systems standard to assist organizations in enhancing their environmental performance and managing their environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner. The ISO 14001:2015 standard is applicable to any organization, regardless of size, type, or nature and does not include specific performance criteria but rather general principles and practices to improve environmental management.
This course equips learners to evaluate their company against ISO 14001 requirements to identify gaps and evaluate the resources needed for company implementation and improvement. It explains the need for a continuous improvement system to properly manage the myriad of regulated issues and activities applicable to biotech companies. The course presents principles of Plan-Do-Check-Act that underlie the ISO 14001 specification. Further, it describes the requirements of the ISO 14001 specification along with recommendations on how these requirements can be met by an organization wanting to become ISO-certified. The experienced presenter provides commentary on the intent and implementation of ISO 14001 based on real-world experience.
