GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Metrocare is part of the Cohen Veterans Network, a national nonprofit (501c3) network of clinics creating an opportunity for Veterans and their families to receive affordable outpatient mental health treatment. With a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, case managers, and veteran outreach workers, the clinic will provide evidence-based, individually-tailored outpatient mental health treatment tailored to meet the specific needs of Veterans, particularly post-9/11, and their families.
The Intake Coordinator provides information on services and supports for which the veteran and/or their family member may be eligible. Specifically, new referrals are contacted and scheduled for assessment within appropriate time frames. The IC performs screenings for individuals seeking services and supports; provides an explanation of services and supports; triages immediate needs in response to crisis situations; and liaises with clinicians and staff to meet referral needs. If licensed or license-eligible, the IC also performs risk assessments and safety planning and may be able to carry a small clinical caseload.
HOURS OF RESPONSIBILITY: 40 hours in the time frame of Mon-Thurs 9 am to 8 pm; Fri 8 am to 1 pm. Must include Weds 11-2 for all-staff meetings
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (* Other duties may be assigned.)
Screens potential clients by telephone, video, and/or walk-in for service eligibility
Provides information on supports and services provided by the clinic
Triages immediate needs in response to crisis situations
Liaises with clinicians and staff to meet referral needs
Obtains release of information, consents, and other necessary forms during the intake process
Maintains confidentiality of information concerning veterans and family members
Maintains required productivity levels as outlined in Center policies
Documents clinical activities in an electronic health record within 24 hours of providing service and in other record-keeping systems as required
Attends team staffings
If under Clinical Supervision for Board Licensure additional duties may include:
Provide a minimum of four hours per week of direct clinical practice,
Engage in competency development using specialized clinical knowledge and advanced skills to assess, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, conditions, and addictions.
Engage in and provide treatment methods across the following client types:
Individuals
Marital
Couple
Family
Group psychotherapy
Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree with two years experience in mental health or related field. Masters degree in related field preferred.
Experience working with a military or veteran population is preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish, English) language skills are preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and reliable.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Basic math skills required.
REASONING ABILITY:
Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
Interpret and apply all applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Effectively use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Skilled at using video conferencing platforms (i.e. Zoom)
Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current licensure as mental health provider strongly preferred, including but not limited to the following: LPC, LPC-A, LMSW

Positions that are community-based, in whole or part, require the incumbent to travel between various worksites within his/her workday/workweek. The incumbent is required to have reliable transportation that can facilitate this requirement. Failure to meet these terms may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment, contract or other status with Metrocare.
