Research Security is a rapidly evolving area of U.S. federal regulatory compliance that encompasses a broad range of activities at U.S. academic institutions. This webinar examines ideas for embedding Research Security as part of enterprise-level risk management discussions across institutions. The webinar explores the federal agency risk matrix frameworks and identifies different categories of risk that need to be managed in effective Research Security Programs, with emphasis placed on developing practical strategies for risk assessment and risk mitigation. Case studies are provided as opportunities to discern risk tolerance at their own institutions and examine how it informs risk mitigation strategies. By the end of the course, learners will be better equipped to identify research security vulnerabilities and contribute to efforts to promote secure and compliant research at their institutions.
