As part of this administration’s American Rescue Plan, $4.4 billion will be allocated to help states with additional staff to support COVID-19 response efforts. In order to expand over-stretched public health departments, funding will be used to:
- Help states and localities increase their public health staffing and expertise.
- Launch Public Health AmeriCorps.
- Recruit and train public health leaders.
- Sterngthen the laboratory workforce and building capacity for future outbreaks.
