About this Course

Using the FY25 funding year, this video-based series provides an overview of the U.S. Department of Energy’s SBIR-STTR program.  Learners begin with an overview of the DOE and its SBIR-STTR program. From there, this series provides a deep dive into proposal elements including the narrative, budget, and biographical sketches.

This course is licensed from BBC Entrepreneurial Training and Consulting.

DOE SBIR-STTR Program Overview & Planning Your Project

This webinar introduces the DOE is a granting agency.  The webinar includes an overview of SBIR-STTR elements as they relate to the DOE, including information about principal investigators. Registration information and the relationship with a non-profit research institution are also discussed.  The webinar ends with a discussion of the DOE application schedule, an overview of topics and sub-topics and how they work with the DOE SBIR-STTR process, the DOE project structure and phases, the proposal review process and the documents that applicants will need.

DOE SBIR-STTR Proposal Essentials Part 1

This webinar begins with a review of the Program Overview & Planning Your Project webinar. Learners then explore the specifics of the DOE full proposal and the elements of the project narrative.  The webinar includes a suggested outline for the work plan and explores the differences between a Phase II and Phase III work plan. The webinar concludes with a review of the performance schedule which is a part of the DOE proposal narrative and facilities/equipment, consultants, and subcontractors.

DOE SBIR-STTR Proposal Essentials Part 2

Beginning with a quick overview of what learners have been presented in the prior two webinars, this webinar moves into the SBIR project budget and budgeting and re-budgeting. From there, learners review the role of the biographical sketches and the DOE’s rules regarding PIs. The webinar concludes by walking learners through the forms to be completed in the DOE workspace.
