Description

This course provides researchers, institutional administrators, and IT leadership and staff with an overview of the federal Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) program and its requirements. Learners will gain practical guidance on identifying, safeguarding, and managing CUI in research, with optional modules addressing institutional responsibilities and system administrator practices.

CUI joins our Information Privacy and Security (IPS) series of courses.

Meet the Author

Mary Duarte Millsaps

Mary Duarte Millsaps, CRA, ECoP® (ITAR & EAR) – North Carolina State University

Mary Duarte Millsaps is the Director of Research Compliance at NC State and oversees compliance related to Animal Subjects, Human Subjects, Research Integrity, Conflicts of Interest, Export Compliance and Research Security. She is an Army veteran and a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Laura Elkin

Laura Elkin, CISSP – University of Cincinnati

Laura Elkin has over 20 years of experience in Cybersecurity and Information Technology with experience in cybersecurity assessment and risk management.   Laura specializes in working with researchers on their DoD cybersecurity requirements and is partnering with the CISO to lead UC’s CMMC efforts.
