Join the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the NIH Director’s Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series (WALS) on May 1, 2024, for a captivating lecture, Understanding the Human Condition Through the Lens of Other Primates. Dr. Jenny Tung will dive into the profound connections between our human experiences and the lives of other primates. Drawing on her groundbreaking research with rhesus macaques and wild baboons, Dr. Tung will explore how early life adversity, social status, and affiliative ties shape our health and lifespans. Discover the evolutionary roots of social determinants of health and gain insights into pathways linking early experiences to later outcomes. Dr. Tung will also discuss resilience mechanisms and the potential for buffering against adversity in primate societies.
