Description
This course provides a regulatory background, legal obligations, and best practices related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act’s HITECH Act of 2009 and its effects on business associates, vendors, and others subject to HIPAA. HITECH strengthened the HIPAA Privacy and Security rules, requiring business associates to comply with the HIPAA Security Rule.

Kimberly White has served as the Vice President, Corporate Privacy Officer at Northwell Health for nine years. She is an attorney by background, previously working as a commercial litigator, and earning her JD from Northwestern University and BA from New York University. She is also certified in healthcare compliance.
Elizabeth Lotito, MS, RHIT, CHC – Northwell Health
Elizabeth Lotito serves as a Senior Director and Privacy Officer for Northwell Health. She has worked there for 13 years in several roles including positions in HIM and Compliance. She earned her BS from Molloy College and MS from UIC. She is Certified in Healthcare Compliance and is an RHIT.
