Paul Braunschweiger, Ph.D., the co-founder and managing director of the CITI Program, a division of BRANY, has announced that he will retire as the CITI Program Managing Director at the end of May.
“This has been one of the most satisfying professional projects that I have ever led,” says Dr. Braunschweiger. It is amazing what the CITI Program has accomplished over the past 18 years and the positive impact that it has had on the global research community. I am very grateful for all the hard work and dedication provided by the CITI Program team and by the members of our advisory board”.
Dr. Braunschweiger, together with Ms. Karen Hansen at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC), co-founded the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) in June 2000 as one of the first online platforms to provide research ethics training and education to the research community. With support from the University of Miami and a consortium of experts from research institutions around the United States, the Program grew from the original ten collaborating institutions to now providing research ethics training and education to more than 1.3 million learners annually, at over 2,100 organizations worldwide. Dr. Braunschweiger will continue in a part-time advisory capacity and serve as a member of the CITI Program External Advisory Board.
Bharat Krishna, has been named as the CITI Program’s new Managing Director, succeeding Dr. Braunschweiger. Mr. Krishna, who previously led the i-Human Patients division of Kaplan Test Prep Company, has extensive experience in online learning, technology, content, and emerging product strategies. At Kaplan he held several leadership positions and has seen the company move toward facilitated online education, since nearly all students today have at least some of their coursework online. Prior to joining Kaplan, he was a consultant with McKinsey & Company.
